MG confirms new S5 will replace all-electric ZS EV

MG has confirmed the new S5 will replace the ZS EV will go sale in the UK this spring.

The new car is already on sale in China.

Unlike its predecessor, which used a combustion engine platform, the S5 is based on MG’s bespoke electric vehicle (EV) underpinnings.

It shares a base with the MG 4 and is expected to use the same electric motors as that car.

MG said the new model will “showcase a striking new cabin appearance with advanced and premium features unique to this model, all of which are designed to raise the standards in the SUV segment.”

In China, the S5 is available with three battery pack options offering ranges of 264, 320 and 326 miles.

Prices are expected to start at less than £30,000, but UK specifcations are yet to be revealed.
