L3Harris Lands Grant to Expand Manufacturing in Florida

L3Harris Technologies announced that it has negotiated a $2 million high impact business performance (HIPI) grant from Florida. The grants will provide a $1 million allocation in 2025 and $1 million in 2027 for the company’s two new facilities in Palm Bay, Florida. The state uses HIPI grants to grow major facilities and attract new business. 

The first new building will be a 93,000-square-foot satellite integration facility that will manufacture space vehicles and produce satellite constellations for national defense applications. The factory will feature a high-bay clean room capable of simultaneous production of large and small satellites with separated rooms designed for classified work at multiple security levels.

Investments in modular production tools are expected to enable rapid reconfiguration to increase speed and lower production costs. The new building is expected to create some 100 new jobs with an average salary of $105,000.

The second new building will be a 98,000-square-foot microelectronics facility supporting advanced manufacturing technologies. The plant will feature a state-of-the-art manufacturing cleanroom and collaboration spaces to support advanced packaging efforts. The second building is expected to house about 100 jobs with an average salary of $111,000. 

Since 1978, L3Harris has been based in Florida and remains the state’s largest aerospace and defense company. The company has some 9,000 employees across 27 locations in Florida, and it has an annual economic impact of some $470 million through work with suppliers and vendors. 

The direct wages of L3Harris employees based in Florida exceeds $1 billion, according to the company.
