Kraken has reached a major milestone, managing over 2GW of power from consumer energy devices and creating what is believed to be the world’s largest residential Virtual Power Plant (VPP).
The AI-powered energy platform now connects over 500,000 assets, including EVs, heat pumps, solar panels, home batteries and smart thermostats.
This VPP handles enough peak demand to power 3.5 million homes – equivalent to a city the size of London – and saves consumers more than $200 million per year by intelligently scheduling device use when electricity is cheapest and cleanest.
Kraken’s system uses real-time data to coordinate devices across homes, reducing peak grid demand, easing congestion and cutting emissions.
The company says each EV is more than just a car – its battery can power a home for days.
Kraken has expanded across Europe through partnerships with E.ON Next in the UK and MAINGAU Energie in Germany.
It also powers around half of the UK’s grid-scale batteries through a broad partnership network.
