Meatpacking giant JBS announced earlier this month that it plans to invest $200 million in its beef production facilities in Cactus, Texas, and Greeley, Colorado.

The projects include a new fabrication floor and expanded ground beef room in Cactus, and a new distribution center in Greeley.

Officials said the investments will provide improved efficiencies at the facilities and the potential for increased production capacity in the future.

Construction will begin in 2025.

“We believe now is the time to invest in the United States, and we are excited about what the future holds,” said Wesley Batista Filho, JBS USA CEO. “Today’s announcement demonstrates our commitment to the U.S. beef industry and the American farmer and rancher. At JBS, we prioritize ongoing investments in our facilities to ensure our company and the rural areas where we live and work are positioned for success now and in the future.”

The Cactus facility employs more than 3,700 and partners with multiple cattle producers, paying $2.9 billion for livestock each year; the Greeley site employs more than 3,800 and partners with over 175 producers, paying $3.1 billion for livestock each year.
