India is about to invest big in green ammonia after a deal with Poland.

Indo-Polish joint venture JK Srivastava Hynfra (JKSH) and India’s New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) have signed an MoU to build a large-scale green hydrogen and ammonia facility in Andhra Pradesh, targeting production of up to 1 million tons annually.

The project will initially produce 100,000 tons of green ammonia per year, powered entirely by renewable energy from solar and wind, alongside battery storage and advanced energy management systems.

Located near Visakhapatnam, the hub aims to become a key international exporter of green ammonia to markets including Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, while also supplying India’s fertilizer and power sectors.

Investment is expected to reach INR 35,000 crore (£3bn), creating up to 8,000 jobs during construction.

Operations are set to start in early 2029.
