Iberdrola has set a new record in distributed electricity, reaching 124,201 GWh in the first half of 2025—an increase of 4.8% compared to the same period last year.
This growth was fueled by demand increases in Spain and the United Kingdom, particularly through the integration of Electricity North West (ENW).
In the UK, distributed energy surged by over 30%, surpassing 20,000 GWh, while Spain saw a 2.5% increase to 44,871 GWh.
The company’s own generation also grew by 2.3%, totaling 66,300 GWh, driven by expanded capacity and a strong performance in offshore wind. Notably, Iberdrola’s offshore wind production rose 42% in the second quarter.
The company has now surpassed 45,000 MW of renewable capacity worldwide for the first time, representing 79% of its total generation.
By country, Iberdrola Energía Internacional led growth with a 15.7% increase, boosted by a 68% rise in offshore wind output in France and Germany.
Brazil followed with an 11.7% rise due to improved hydroelectric generation. Spain’s generation increased by 6.4%, supported by gains in solar, nuclear and combined cycle technologies.
The company now generates 91% of its electricity in Spain without emissions and 100% of its output in the UK, US, Brazil, Australia and several European countries.
