The Hydrogen Energy Association (HEA) has launched a major new survey to capture the views of businesses operating across the UK’s growing hydrogen sector.
The State of the Hydrogen Nation survey aims to deliver a comprehensive health check of the industry, covering business confidence, skills, investment, and market barriers.
Findings will inform the HEA’s first State of the Hydrogen Nation report, due in early 2026, offering valuable insights for Government, policymakers, and investors.
The report will assess the health of the hydrogen value chain and set out recommendations to maximise hydrogen’s potential to create jobs, attract investment, and drive decarbonisation across the UK economy.
“Hydrogen is at a pivotal point in the UK’s energy transition,” said Dr Emma Guthrie, CEO of the Hydrogen Energy Association. “By hearing directly from businesses at the forefront of production, storage, distribution, end-use, and technology innovation, we can provide an evidenced-based picture of the industry’s health, and what is needed to unlock its full potential.”
The HEA plans to make the State of the Hydrogen Nation report an annual publication, serving as a data-driven benchmark for the UK’s hydrogen sector.
The initiative will highlight emerging trends, regional strengths, and areas where further policy support is required to scale up hydrogen as a clean, sustainable energy solution.
