The contamination was found in just three bags of candy in the Netherlands but Haribo is recalling its entire stock. The bags in question are dated best before January 2026.
The Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) said Dutch police are looking into how the cannabis ended up in the candy, and warned consumers to stay away from it for the time being.
“Do not eat the sweets,” the agency said in a statement.
In a statement obtained by the Independent, Haribo said the incident was contained to the Netherlands, and that its products in the UK were not affected.
“The safety of our consumers is our highest priority and Haribo takes this incident very seriously, which is why a recall has been issued in the Netherlands,” the company said. “Haribo is working closely with the authorities to support their investigation and establish the facts around the contamination.”
