Glyn Hopkin’s Chelmsford Training Centre has been awarded IMI approved centre status, marking a significant milestone in the dealership group’s commitment to developing skills in electric vehicles (EVs) and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

The certificate and plaque were presented to Salvatore Paci, head of technical training and development at Glyn Hopkin, by Michelle Barrett, IMI business development manager.

Opened earlier this year, the Chelmsford Training Centre provides both practical and theoretical learning, aimed at equipping Glyn Hopkin staff and other industry professionals with the highest standards of qualifications needed to work on electrified vehicles, ADAS technology, and F-Gas handling.

With IMI approved centre status, the facility will ensure that technicians across Glyn Hopkin’s 35 sites are trained to meet the growing demand for expertise in these advanced technologies.

As one of the UK’s largest dealership networks, Glyn Hopkin supports brands like MG, Nissan, Renault, Suzuki, and Kia.

The company, which recently transitioned to employee ownership, offers Continuous Professional Development (CPD) through  Level 1 to 4 qualifications at the Chelmsford centre.

Paul Sozzi of Glyn Hopkin said: “We are committed to staying ahead of automotive technology changes and ensuring our colleagues are fully trained to work safely on the latest vehicles, whether electric, hybrid, or ADAS-equipped.

“Achieving IMI approved centre status reflects the high quality of our training and supports our commitment to ongoing career development for our employees.”

Kevin Finn, executive chair of IMI, praised Glyn Hopkin’s forward-thinking approach, stating, “The IMI courses delivered at the Glyn Hopkin Chelmsford Training Centre are of the highest standard, focusing on upskilling and future-proofing the workforce.”

To earn IMI Approved Centre status, training centres must meet strict IMI criteria, including providing outstanding accreditation and demonstrating a commitment to upskilling technicians.
