Georgia-Pacific officially opened a new Dixie-brand tableware manufacturing site in Jackson, Tennessee, yesterday. Production started at the $425 million facility back in June 2024.
The plant will manufacture Dixie and Dixie Ultra products for retail customers, such as plates, bowls, and platters. According to the company, the Jackson plant will significantly increase the supply of disposable tableware products.
The factory was initially announced in September 2022. Site clearing started in November of the same year, and full construction began in 2023.

The plant is a 900,000-square-foot operation with a climate-controlled environment that includes a printer, associated plate-forming converting assets and other state-of-the-art manufacturing technology.
The project is Georgia-Pacific’s first new Dixie greenfield plant since the company opened its Bowling Green, Kentucky, factory in 1991.
According to Fernando Gonzalez, president of the Dixie consumer products group, the new plant will help fulfill growing consumer demand and create at least 220 new jobs.
Georgia-Pacific currently has more than 600 employees across seven facilities in Tennessee, providing more than $40 million in direct wages and benefits. As of September 2024, the company’s economic impact contributed to 1,660 indirect jobs and some $118 million in state labor income, according to the company.
Since 2011, Georgia-Pacific has invested more than $675 million in Tennessee, including the construction of the Jackson plant. The company also recently announced plans to invest more than $20 million in its corrugated plant in Lebanon, Tennessee.
