Energy supplier Utilita has launched a new platform aimed at offering real-time transparency into its carbon emissions and the energy mix supplied to its customers.

The Live Carbon Dashboard, claimed to be an industry first, enables consumers to see the mix of energy they are using in their region in real time, helping close the loopholes that enable misleading 100% renewable energy tariff claims.

It also provides a real-time view of Utilita’s operational emissions, covering everything from office energy use to fleet emissions.

The dashboard will also include the footprint of the company’s entire supply chain, fostering responsible sourcing practices.

Archie Lasseter, Utilita’s Head of Sustainability said: “The dashboard is more than a tool for measurement – it’s a platform for change. It demonstrates the urgency for vital market reform through government action to decarbonise the National Grid.

“By launching the Live Carbon Dashboard, Utilita aims to showcase the realities of its own operations while sparking dialogue around the systemic changes required to accelerate the UK’s journey to net zero by saying what is in the tin.

“In the last 12 months we have seen other suppliers take more transparent approaches to telling customers where their energy is coming from but we have gone further. We aren’t just time-matching supply to demand. We are using location as well, adding a whole new level of transparency.”
