The 13th edition of the best energy awards concluded last night with joint winners walking away as Large Consultancy of the Year.
The award sponsored by Shell Energy was presented to both Advantage Utilities and Experienced Energy Solutions, after the independent judges panel ruled it too close to call. It’s only the second time there have ever been joint winners of an award.
The event, held at the historic Underglobe on the South Bank, began with an emotional tribute to two wonderful people who were taken too early by cancer.
The first, Christan Foden, or Fodes as we knew him, was one of the first employees here at ELN and was a well known face in the sector.

Chris helped us shape the very first awards back in 2013 and was a talented cameraman as well as business executive. He was loved by all and married our wonderful reporter Vicky Ellis, to become the first ‘ELN’ couple.
After leaving ELN he worked in the film industry working with Speilberg no less and most recently set up a very sucessful software business.
Tragically his battle against bowel cancer ended last week and we all miss him very dearly. Editor Sumit Bose led a moments applause to mark Fodes amazing life.
And then the second major loss, the passing of industry stalwart Chris Shaw the CEO of Utility Bidder.
Chris was known by all in the sector as tireless campaigner for consumers, trying his best to improve the reputation of both brokers and suppliers, pushing for transparency and helping to found the ECA.
Chris too lost his cancer battle earlier this year but his legacy will not be forgotten with the launch of a special award last night in his name.
The Chris Shaw Award – Voice of the Industry will be an ongoing gong, for those making a real difference to the sector, speaking out against bad practice and celebrating what is done well.

The inaugural award was won by Timothy Hipperson, who has been a real spearhead this year in cleaning up the regulatory aspects of the broker supplier axis.
The evening ended with a great celebration of all that is good about the consultant and broker sector, with dancing into the early hours.
Our thanks to all the partner companies without whom the awards would not be possible and of course our ever changing, ever credible panel of independent judges, who make the TELCAs the most trusted awards in the energy sector.
