Tesla, helmed by Elon Musk, is seeking to sell power to households in the UK as it plans to launch an electricity supplier.
Tesla Energy Ventures has applied to energy regulator Ofgem for an electricity supply licence, which could enable the company to start providing power as early as next year.
Dubbed Tesla Electric, it supplies electricity to households that own Tesla products such as cars or batteries.
The company states it has been designed to power homes with low, cost, 100% renewable energy, help householders manage energy usage through a mobile app and optimise the value of their Powerwall system and Tesla vehicle.
It initially launched its household supply deals in Texas last year, including the Dynamic plan and Fixed plan for Powerwall customers.
