A prominent motor dealership site in Doncaster is on the market following the collapse of Hayselden’s Volkswagen and Skoda operations.
Watling Real Estate and Rapleys have been jointly instructed to handle the sale of the 2.63-acre Marshgate site, previously occupied by T.Hayselden (Doncaster),
Founded in 1959, Hayselden was a well-established dealership within South Yorkshire, operating as an authorised Volkswagen and Skoda dealership providing vehicle sales, servicing and repair facilities. Hayselden was established in 1959 and at its peak operated four dealerships across Doncaster and Barnsley.
The business entered administration in December with Mark Hodgett and David Acland of FRP Advisory in Leeds appointed as joint administrators.
The site is divided into two areas. The former Volkswagen dealership sits to the front, flanking North Bridge Road and the York Road roundabout, with a 16,923 sq ft building that includes showroom, office and workshop space.
To the rear, the former Skoda dealership provides a further 6,840 sq ft of showroom, offices and workshops. The property also benefits from a large surfaced yard with a communal central area, offering a total of 295 parking spaces.
Purpose-built Doncaster site
The Marshgate site is now being marketed with Watling leading regional interest through its local office, while Rapleys will support with national coverage and its specialist automotive sector expertise. Both agents expect strong interest, citing the site’s flexibility and potential for adaptive reuse.
Rapleys’ Mark Frostick said: “This site will appeal to a range of potential purchasers thanks to the flexibility of future uses available. It currently offers almost 25,000 sq ft of commercial space but, as a purpose built dealership complex it will also appeal to both franchised and used car dealers.”
