Small hatchbacks remain the UK’s top choice for used cars, according to new figures from online retailer cinch.
The Vauxhall Corsa, Ford Fiesta and MINI Hatchback led Q2 2025 sales, showing continued demand for compact, practical vehicles despite growing SUV popularity.
“Vauxhall’s Corsa delivers a great package for all types of drivers,” said cinch motoring editor Sam Sheehan, who added that the Fiesta still appeals to “buyers looking for a practical runaround at a low price point.”
SUVs such as the Nissan Qashqai and Range Rover Evoque also made the top 10 but hatchbacks held their ground.
The DS 3 was the fastest-selling car overall, while the Ford Mustang Mach-E led electric sales.
Interest in electric vehicles is also rising, especially in affordable brands.
Searches for Chinese EV brand BYD rose 236% quarter-on-quarter. Models like the SEAL and DOLPHIN have found favour among UK drivers thanks to their balance of price, comfort and performance.
Cinch’s top-selling EVs included the Tesla Model 3, MINI Hatchback and Nissan Leaf.
Used EV prices dropped 2% between Q1 and Q2, helping boost interest.
