New analysis by finance lender Carmoola in collaboration with valuation specialist Brego has identified the Peugeot 208 as the car buyer’s favourite model.

The study, which examined over 8 million car sales from the past 12 months, highlights which makes and models sell the quickest and which struggle to find buyers.

The Peugeot 208 emerged as the fastest-selling car, typically taking just 22 days to sell at an average price of £10,662. The third-placed Vauxhall Astra, although significantly cheaper with an average price of £6,680, is also selling quickly.

The Renault Captur, on the other hand, takes over two and a half months (79 days) to sell. Other slow movers include the Mazda 3 (77 days) and the Volkswagen Golf (74 days).

Aidan Rushby, founder and CEO of Carmoola, commented: “Car buyers have so much more information and choice now, so attracting their attention is no easy task. While price is a major factor, there are plenty of budget cars that are hard to shift and higher-priced cars that sell quickly. Highlighting the unique value of your car is key to making a sale. Buyers should be prepared with a negotiation plan and a clear budget.”
