British Gas is bringing back half price electricity for its business customers this December, offering discounted power every Wednesday from 10am to 3pm between 10 and 31 December, including Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
The PeakSave scheme is aimed at SMEs such as pubs, restaurants and salons during one of the most expensive and energy intensive times of the year, when businesses are lighting storefronts, running festive promotions and fulfilling last minute orders. British Gas says the offer both cuts costs and encourages greener energy use.
So far, businesses taking part have collectively saved more than £500,000 through PeakSave, with nearly 65,000 eligible firms with smart meters invited to join the trial.
A retail business in Livingston said: “Really easy to enroll in Peaksave and we enjoy the savings of several hundred pounds per year! An excellent program and one of the main reasons why we stay with British Gas as our preferred supplier!”
A manufacturing customer in Buckinghamshire added: “It really did make a difference and make us feel good! Every little helps, especially when everything is so tight these days.”
Matt Wood, Director of British Gas Business, said: “We know how important the festive period is for businesses and that energy use often rises in December, with extended opening hours and festive lighting. That’s why we’re bringing back PeakSave events, to help our customers manage seasonal demand and finish the year strong.”
British Gas is also urging businesses to switch to LED decorations, set timers for lights, unplug non essential equipment during downtime and choose more sustainable gifts and wrapping to trim bills further.
