Comparison site BookMyGarage has launched a new SMART and cosmetic repair service to help it expand beyond MOTs and routine servicing.
The service, which enables motorists to book repairs for dents, scratches, paintwork damage and more substantial cosmetic issues, has been introduced following months of development and extensive testing with partners.
Unlike traditional service bookings, cosmetic work has proved more challenging to digitise due to the nuanced nature of damage and repair estimates.
To address this, BookMyGarage has introduced a simple online estimation process. Users can highlight the area of damage on their vehicle and upload supporting photos. Once a booking is confirmed, the repairer contacts the customer directly to triage the work and provide a refined quote after assessing the images.
Jessica Potts, chief marketing officer at BookMyGarage, explained: “Our platform continues to evolve with changing consumer habits, and data shows that drivers are increasingly specific in their aftercare needs. Cosmetic repairs are in high demand, but they’ve historically been difficult to bring into the online space. We’ve worked hard with our partners to design a simple, effective solution that benefits both customers and repairers.”

The platform’s commercial model mirrors its existing garage partner programme: repairers only pay a fee once the customer appointment takes place, while the customer pays the provider directly for the work. Additional services or repairs beyond the initial estimate can be arranged between the business and the customer as required.
