The Big Zero Show had a fantastic comeback earlier this week after a one year hiatus and the message from the energy professionals out there was clear… net zero is not dead, it’s alive and well – but it might need to tell its story a bit better.
From discussions on the future of flexibility, to data and AI, batteries and perhaps most important of all, sharing the successes and struggles of energy professionals trying to do their best, in reducing the impact of their organisations on the planet and ecosystem.
With the world now in the grip of another energy price crisis and many differing political views on the net zero target itself, it was an opportune moment to bring everyone together once more.
From chatting to delegates two things are clear.
First net zero is still the direction of travel and it is perhaps not being shouted from the rooftops, it is still very much building the foundations. From cutting the carbon in waste, generating power, electrifying fleets and changing behaviours both within an organisation and in their supply chains, sustainable business is alive and well.

Secondly, the cost of the transition is much more important and as it should be, making all of us think about how to do things better. In some ways the price pressures on both the private and public sectors, has made net zero more important rather than less. And those in this space also need to tell their story more so the public are not confused by incorrect narratives.

Our thanks to all the delegates, speakers, partners and sponsors for making the show a success. Check out the content from the show over the coming days.
