Automotive industry charity Ben has launched two new training courses designed to improve understanding of women’s health and wellbeing across the sector.
The new programmes – Women’s Health Awareness and Menopause Awareness – aim to help employers, managers and employees better understand the physical, emotional and psychological health challenges affecting women in the workplace.
Ben said the courses are intended to give automotive businesses practical tools to support staff wellbeing, encourage open conversations and help create more inclusive workplaces.
Women’s health training launched
The Women’s Health Awareness course focuses on building understanding around key health challenges and risks affecting women, while also helping participants develop strategies to manage wellbeing and support colleagues.
The training also aims to build confidence when discussing women’s health issues in the workplace and provide guidance on recognising when someone may need support.
Participants will gain insights into women’s health challenges, develop skills to better manage wellbeing and learn how to support others through constructive and supportive conversations.
Alongside this, the programme aims to help individuals strengthen resilience and improve their overall understanding of personal wellbeing.
Menopause awareness for workplaces
Ben is also introducing a dedicated Menopause Awareness course, designed to help employees of all genders better understand the impact menopause can have at work and at home.
The course covers the signs and symptoms of menopause, including sleep disruption, mood changes, cognitive challenges and stress, and explores how these experiences can affect day-to-day working life.
Participants will receive guidance on recognising when colleagues may be affected and understanding what practical support may be needed within the workplace.
Both courses will be available either face-to-face or virtually, providing flexibility for employers across the automotive sector regardless of location or shift patterns.
Ben said the initiative reflects a broader commitment to improving inclusivity and supporting the long-term health and wellbeing of automotive employees.
Julie Hayes, specialist services lead at Ben, said: “Supporting the health and wellbeing of automotive people has always been at the heart of our mission, and the launch of our women’s health and menopause course reflects that commitment. These courses are there to provide the tools and resources to improve women’s health and wellbeing across the industry.
“We know that when employees feel understood, supported and valued, they’re more confident, more connected and able to bring their best selves to work. Our courses give individuals, managers and teams the tools they need to recognise challenges, have supportive conversations about women’s health and create a more inclusive workplace culture.
“For employers, the benefits include improved wellbeing, better retention, reduced absence and stronger, more resilient teams. We’re proud to be a trusted training partner for the automotive industry and we look forward to working with many more automotive businesses as we continue rolling out our new programme of training. With over 120 years of expertise supporting automotive people, we are uniquely placed to deliver training that genuinely helps individuals thrive at home and work.”
The launch also aligns with wider government efforts to prioritise women’s health and expand menopause support, highlighting the increasing focus on workplace awareness and wellbeing initiatives.
