Ben is urging automotive businesses to take part in a new April walking and running fundraiser to support colleagues in crisis.

‘Miles that Matter’ is a flexible walking and running event encouraging individuals and teams to set their own distance goal and complete it between April 20-24, or at any point during the month, while raising funds for the charity.

Participants can opt for a daily 5k, a longer weekend run, or a collective team target. Ben said every mile completed will help fund its support services for automotive workers and their families across the UK.

Demand for the charity’s services remains high, with cost-of-living pressures continuing to impact health and wellbeing across the sector.

Ben said automotive employees are facing increasingly complex challenges, including financial hardship, mental health issues, relationship breakdowns and physical illness.

Funds raised through Miles that Matter will contribute to practical and emotional support for those in need.

The event is open to individuals and teams, offering an opportunity for dealerships, workshops, suppliers and other industry partners to engage staff, support wellbeing initiatives and raise money collectively.

Matt Wigginton, director of growth and development at Ben, said: “Every mile really does matter for those in our industry who are struggling or in crisis.

“By taking part in this new challenge, our automotive community can improve their own health and wellbeing and make a life-changing difference to colleagues facing tough times. We’re encouraging businesses and individuals across the sector to lace up this April and join us.”

Ben said participants will receive fundraising guidance, resources and promotional materials to help maximise impact.

For businesses unable to take part in April, the charity is also promoting other events throughout the year, including the Thames Bridges Trek, Manchester Half Marathon, Kiltwalk, Great South Run and Run Fest.
