Automotive charity Ben has launched a new financial wellbeing campaign as money worries continue to place a growing strain on industry workers and their families.

The campaign was launched today on “Blue Monday”, a day often associated with low mood and increased stress.

It aims to highlight the scale of financial pressure facing automotive workers and encourage those affected to seek support.

Ben said cost of living pressures have become an everyday reality across the sector.

The charity continues to support thousands of people each year who are struggling to make ends meet, with a growing number seeking urgent help with food, rent, utility bills and housing costs.

The charity reports that financial stress is rarely an isolated issue.

Many people contacting Ben are facing complex and overlapping challenges, with money worries affecting physical and mental health, family relationships and overall wellbeing.

According to Ben’s latest survey, one in six people working in the automotive industry are skipping meals to save money, while one in five is experiencing debt problems.

The charity said these pressures are contributing to ongoing mental health challenges across the workforce.

This mirrors wider national trends.

The Financial Wellbeing Index, which surveyed more than 5,000 workers, found that 77% say money worries affect them at work, with financial stress closely linked to anxiety, low mood and depression.

Rachel Clift, chief executive of Ben, said: “Money worries are one of the most common reasons people reach out to Ben.

“By launching our financial well-being campaign on Blue Monday, we want to remind people across the automotive industry that support is available and that they don’t have to face these challenges alone.

“Asking for help early can make a huge difference. Don’t delay, get in touch today!

“Whether you need support with budgeting, debt, or making sure you’re getting benefits you’re entitled to, Ben’s here for you.

“We can help you get back on track and feel more confident about the future.

“If you’re struggling with a difficult situation and need support, our experienced helpline advisors and case managers are ready to listen, support and look after you.”

The campaign will run across Ben’s channels over the coming weeks, with further information and support available through ben.org.uk.
