Auto Trader has launched two new artificial intelligence (AI) powered tools as part of its suite of Co-Driver solutions.
The new Co-Driver tools, AI Generated Descriptions and Vehicle Highlights, will incorporate Auto Trader’s data and consumer insights to help retailers reduce the time and effort required to create used car and van adverts.
The full range of Co-Driver’s features are available as part of all used car and van advertising packages.
They’re accessible through Auto Trader Portal accounts, and for those retailers using Auto Trader’s suite of API solutions, Auto Trader Connect.
Auto Trader said they can also be integrated into retailers’ chosen systems through their third-party technology provider.
The introduction of AI Generated Descriptions and Vehicle Highlights follows on from the lanch of Co-Driver and the first tool, Smart Image Management, in November last year, which is already being used by over 7,100 retailers to optimise their adverts each day.
AI Generated Descriptions
AI Generated Descriptions taps into Auto Trader’s data to generate detailed vehicle descriptions, which also incorporate VIN specification details sourced directly from manufacturers.
Auto Trader said the AI tool can accurately describe and position each vehicle “in the most appealing way for potential buyers— helping retailers to showcase their stock in the most impactful way in just a click of a button”.
Vehicle Highlights
Vehicle Highlights uses Auto Trader’s data to automatically highlight the most distinctive characteristics and specifications of each car unique to the specific model, derivative and even individual vehicle.
The tool can automatically pinpoint features buyers are interested in by linking the tool with Auto Trader’s consumer insights data.
Karolina Edwards-Smajda, Auto Trader’s chief product officer (pictured), said: “These new advanced AI-powered tools not only mark another important milestone in what will be a long pipeline of Co-Driver innovations, but also our ongoing commitment to helping retailers drive performance and unlock more profit through technology.
“Our tools have never been influenced by fads, and Co-Driver is no exception.
“We understand the challenges and pain-points our partners face and we believe the benefits of these combined solutions, which are built on over a decade’s worth of AI investment and powered by our unrivalled data, will be far reaching and immediate.”
Auto Trader launched its AI-powered Co-Driver in November as part of Automotive Management Live.
The first tool launched to retailers, Smart Image Management, has arranged over 3.7 million images into the “optimum sequence according to buyer preferences” since it launched over three months ago.
The tool uses AI image recognition to automatically categorise images, as well as flag missing imagery, to ensure every advert is as eye-catching as possible to buyers.
Auto Trader has an in-house team of over 400 data scientists and engineeers to help continue developing Co-Driver in the coming months and years.
