IndustriAll Europe joined the Congress and organising workshop of the Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Non-Metal Workers of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Tuzla on 16 May.

IndustriAll Europe warmly congratulates Ilvana Smajlović on her re-election as President of the Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Non-Metal Workers´ Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We also thank the union for a well-prepared event and a timely workshop on organising for strong collective bargaining.

Across Europe, and in Bosnia and Herzegovina, collective agreements are under pressure, making it more important than ever to strengthen organising efforts.

At the workshop, the participants worked with union activists from the chemical, pharmaceutical, and non-metal sectors to build power for strong collective bargaining.

Sectoral CBAs won’t defend themselves — unions must organise for these. As enlargement moves forward, strong, organised unions are getting ready to negotiate decent industrial jobs in what will be future EU member states.

There was active participation and commitment to growing union power at every level.

IndustriAll Europe stands with all unions working to defend workers’ rights and build lasting strength through organising.
