The queue is costing you customers
Drivers today expect the same convenience from their dealer as they get from their bank or their favourite retailer. Yet for many, the service visit still starts with a wait. An independent survey commissioned by Tjekvik in 2026 and conducted by OnePoll found that 46% of UK aftersales customers have to queue to see a service advisor. In London, that number rises to 67%.
The cost goes beyond a few lost minutes. Almost a quarter of drivers (22%) believe an independent workshop or fast-fit chain might be quicker, and 18% would consider taking their car elsewhere next time. Every queue at the service desk is a quiet risk to loyalty.
Customers are ready to serve themselves
The good news is that drivers are already showing dealers the way forward. Nearly three million UK customers used digital check-in and check-out last year, up 11% on 2024. Over the same period, the share of customers reporting queues fell from 67% to 46%.
Appetite is strongest among younger drivers. While 35% of all UK car owners would rather use a self-service kiosk than wait for an advisor, that jumps to 71% among 25 to 34-year-olds. Their reasons are simple: 43% want to avoid queues, and 31% want more flexibility over when they drop off and collect. Almost 30% would like to hand over or pick up keys outside normal opening hours.
Self-service that sells
Self-service does more than shorten queues. It opens a new revenue channel. Almost half of aftersales customers (45%) want to hear about relevant products and services when they check in, rising to 73% among 25 to 34-year-olds. Oil top-ups, seasonal check-ups and service plans top the wish list. And customers who choose at their own pace, on a screen, buy without feeling pressured.
Tjekvik’s Smart Rules make every offer count. Dealers can tailor offers by customer type, vehicle make and model, and work-order details. An EV driver sees charging credits rather than premium oil. A diesel owner is offered an AdBlue top-up. A customer whose warranty is about to expire is invited to extend it. The result is higher conversion and a more personal experience that customers rate highly.

Every step of the journey, covered
Tjekvik powers aftersales at more than 2,300 dealership locations in 30 markets, handling over five million interactions a year. Customers can check in from home, at an in-showroom kiosk, or at an all-weather Outdoor kiosk available 24/7. That kiosk can even sit at an airport, railway station or shopping centre, extending a dealer’s reach well beyond its own forecourt.
Each visit saves staff time, freeing advisors to focus on the customers who need them most. Keys are stored in secure lockers, and customers are updated by email or SMS, the channels they prefer.
Shorter queues, happier customers and more revenue from every visit. That’s aftersales with Tjekvik.
