Lithia UK has opened another Genesis dealership, its third representing the premium sister brand of Hyundai.

The showroom, Genesis Leeds, is on Gelderd Road alongside the Evans Halshaw Hyundai dealership.

Lithia’s Evans Halshaw division already has Genesis dealerships at Warrington and Leicester, plus an authorised service centre at Gateshead.

Having launched in the UK as an OEM-led online-focused car brand in 2021, Genesis pivoted in 2023 and began to court franchised dealer groups in order to improve new car sales.

And the following year its national sales company was also brought under the wing of parent Hyundai UK.

The opening of Genesis Leeds, to serve Yorkshire and the surrounding region follows other dealer group’s expansions with new Genesis dealerships in Glasgow, Surrey, Cannock and Kent, alongside the brand’s established studios at London’s Westfield and Battersea and in Edinburgh.

Leeds expands Genesis network

The glass-fronted Leeds showroom spans more than 147 sq m and includes a dedicated customer lounge. Genesis said the facility showcases its full model line-up.

The manufacturer highlighted Lithia’s experience with premium automotive brands and its existing relationship with Hyundai as factors supporting the partnership.

Ben Sargeant, director of Genesis and customer strategy at Genesis Motor UK, said: “We are proud to open our newest retailer, Genesis Leeds. This milestone marks another exciting next step in the rollout of our retail business model. As our network continues to grow across the UK, we are creating more opportunities for customers to explore the Genesis range first-hand while strengthening our brand presence in key regions”.

Lithia targets Yorkshire customers

Rob Miller, group vice president at Lithia, said: “We’re delighted to open our dedicated Genesis Leeds showroom and introduce this exciting premium brand to customers across Yorkshire and the surrounding region.

“The showroom has been carefully designed to reflect Genesis’ premium, customer-centric philosophy. We look forward to welcoming customers to discover the range and experience the personalised service that sits at the heart of both Genesis and Lithia.”

The UK network expansion forms part of Genesis’ wider European growth plans. The brand, which launched in Europe in 2021, now operates in France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the UK.

Spain is due to become its seventh European market, with further launches planned for 2027 in countries including Austria, Denmark, Poland and Portugal.
