Bentley has unveiled its first EV, the Torcal SUV.
The model will launch with a choice of core and S models, the latter featuring a pair of electric motors producing 888PS and 1,350Nm of torque, allowing 0-60mph acceleration in 2.8 seconds when a launch control system is activated. Core spec will have 821PS and 1,194Nm.
A 113kWh battery will allow a range of up to 375 miles between charges, while 400kW DC charging capability will allow a 10-80% charge in less than 20 minutes. The battery is covered by a 10-year/100,000-mile warranty.
Bentley says that to replace the sound of its V8 engine, a ‘Dynamic Symphony’ sound will be played, featuring the sound of real musical instruments.

The Torcal is five metres long, making it Bentley’s shortest four-door model, and features a 460-litre boot, along with a 90-litre front storage area. It is the first model to incorporate the brand’s redesigned emblem.
New suspension system deployed
The Torcal will be the first Bentley to feature fully active suspension, designed to deliver maximum ride comfort and body control – Bentley says the system negates the need for anti-roll bars. All-wheel steering will be standard, allowing an 11.1-metre turning circle.
The interior is said to feature new materials such as the world’s first 100% Merino wool automotive fabric, and Ombre Walnut by Mulliner, which is formed from up to 1,000 individually selected layers of responsibly sourced walnut off-cuts and recycled paper.
All-new seats are said to include 16-way adjustment, while the rear seat bench features Bentley’s first power-fold system.
