There is a clear gap between C-suite and entry level roles knowledge of net zero plans – almost 80% of C-suite workers believe their company will hit net zero by 2050, whereas only a third of those at entry-level are confident that will be the case.
However, this doesn’t mean that entry level workers don’t care entirely about their company’s net zero promises – 70% of them say they care about their energy use at work – they’re simply not informed.
Once again, communication is key.
According to the analysis by D-ENERGI, if information is not clearly communicated from higher up roles to juniors, a disconnect appears.
Only half of surveyed employees knew that their company even had any plans in place.
Mike Williamson, Business Analyst at D-ENERGI, said: “Employees are clearly aware of reducing their carbon footprint, from our findings, but the opportunity now is collective action and making sure sustainability plans are more visible, understandable and relevant to businesses in their entirety, not just at the top.”
