Enerparc AG, one of Europe’s biggest independent solar park operators has filed for insolvency in Germany. Enerparc has around 5.5GW of installed solar capacity across more than 500 parks, although only about 3.8GW is currently connected to the grid.
Germany is rapidly increasing its renewable capacity – however its grid cannot keep up. Solar and wind capacity is expanding faster than the electricity grid is being upgraded, leaving some projects waiting for connections.
This has led to solar energy developers and operators filing for insolvency – one of them being Enerparc.
Curtailment is another major issue for these companies. When solar and wind generation is very high, operators can be forced to reduce output because there isn’t enough grid capacity or demand to take the electricity.
However, Enerparc secured a €1bn financing package earlier in 2026 to continue expansion, yet subsequently entered insolvency. The exact reasons for the filing haven’t been publicly explained in detail.
