Audi’s new seven-seat luxury SUV Q9 is on sale in the UK, priced from £103,900 for Edition 1 and £113,250 for the higher spec Vorsprung with first deliveries expected in November.

A 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine is the only powertrain available at launch, producing 299PS and 630Nm of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed tiptronic gearbox, quattro all-wheel drive and mild-hybrid technology.

Edition 1 features 22-inch Audi Sport alloy wheels, Matrix LED headlights, adaptive air suspension, all-wheel steering and a switchable panoramic roof.

Its seven-seat cabin includes fine nappa leather, ventilated and massaging front seats, heated seats across all three rows and four-zone climate control.

Technology includes a 14.5-inch central touchscreen, 11.9-inch virtual cockpit, 12.3-inch front passenger display, head-up display and Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system.

Adaptive cruise control, surround-view cameras, Park Assist Plus, digital key technology and a comprehensive collection of collision avoidance systems are also standard.

What the extra £9,350 adds

That £9,350 increase for the Vorsprung adds 23-inch Audi Sport wheels and replaces the standard Matrix LED headlights with Digital Matrix LED units featuring ground projection technology.

It also gains what Audi describes as the world’s first curved Digital OLED rear lights, offering up to eight selectable signatures and partially active 3D effects.

Among the most visible practical upgrades are automatic doors with remote operation, a wirelessly heated climate-controlled windscreen and illuminated exterior elements covering the grille, rear Audi rings and door areas.

Inside, Vorsprung adds carbon-effect inlays, an air quality and fragrance package and an enhanced ambient lighting system extending into the doors.

The Edition 1’s 3D audio system is replaced by a 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen 4D system with headrest speakers and bass actuators within the front seats.

Park Assist Pro introduces remote control and trained parking functions, while Vorsprung also gains Adaptive Cruise Assist Plus, enhanced 3D surround-view cameras and rear emergency braking.

Vorsprung customers can also specify a £5,000 Lounge Pack, which changes the Q9 from seven to six seats. The second row gains individual ventilated and massaging seats separated by a heated leather centre armrest.

José Miguel Aparicio, director of Audi UK, said: “The Audi Q9 is a compelling new proof point of Audi’s leadership in the premium automotive market. As our first full-size SUV flagship, it completes the Audi SUV portfolio and introduces a new benchmark for luxury, innovation and comfort. Its suite of cutting-edge technologies elevates the in-car experience for our customers, transforming every journey into a truly special occasion.”
