Luxury and performance car specialist Clive Sutton has opened a new dealership in north-west London as it expands its official partnership with General Motors.

The dealership at the Oxgate Centre, close to Staples Corner, has been developed to house vehicles from Cadillac, Chevrolet and Corvette alongside the company’s established specialist and bespoke vehicle operations.

The opening marks a return to manufacturer-backed retail for Clive Sutton, which previously operated eight London dealerships representing marques including Jaguar, Chrysler Jeep, Rover, MG, Cadillac and Chevrolet.

“It’s been a few years since I built a new dealership,” said Clive Sutton, chairman of Clive Sutton, on LinkedIn, explaining how he sold those dealerships to became an independent international dealer specialising in American imports, high-end specialist cars and bespoke builds.

The business has now been appointed to supply official Cadillac and Chevrolet vehicles in the UK and will act as a distributor supporting a selected national dealer network, with the participating dealerships due to be announced soon.

Sutton said: “This, combined with our recent appointment as the London Corvette dealer, is a seminal moment for the Clive Sutton business.”

“Continuing my mantra of ‘Service that Never Breaks Down ‘ delivering outstanding customer service and enjoying recurring business with some great customers and friends who value old fashioned service rather than the raft of faceless online channels that prevail in this click and collect age.

“On behalf of my loyal and capable team we are proud to have partnered with GM in the UK to deliver official Cadillac and Chevrolet vehicles both via our new dealership in north west London and as a distributor via a soon to be announced selected dealer network around the UK.”

The new workshop has five-tonne vehicle lifts capable of accommodating large American models including the Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado and Chevrolet Suburban.

It also has equipment capable of changing tyres fitted to 24-inch wheels, the latest diagnostic systems and facilities for electric vehicle and air-conditioning repairs. The business will stock GM parts and approved accessories.

Clive Sutton has also recruited technicians from the Porsche dealership network who are receiving training on GM vehicles. Their experience, Sutton said, will allow the business to offer Porsche repairs using genuine parts.

Alongside its official GM operations, the dealership will continue to display specialist cars, Mercedes-Benz conversions, VIP taxis, restomod Mustangs, new Mustang builds and Shelby American Cobras.

“Our objective is to become a GM centre of excellence in London,” said Sutton.
