Batchelors Motor Group has increased its sales consultant basic salary to £32,000 as it looks to attract and retain experienced staff in a competitive recruitment market.
Batchelors, which represents Omoda, Jaecoo, Suzuki, Renault and Dacia across its dealerships, said the structure offers a higher guaranteed salary while retaining performance-related incentives.
Under the new package, sales consultants receive a £32,000 basic salary, with earnings rising to £42,000 when selling 14 vehicles per month and up to £62,000 OTE at 20 vehicle sales per month.
The dealer group has also introduced a group-wide sales league, with the highest-performing sales consultant receiving a £1,000 quarterly bonus, creating the opportunity to earn an additional £4,000 a year.
Rewards are also available for those finishing second, third and fourth.
Moving away from traditional commission models
Batchelors said the revised structure moves away from traditional commission models that rely on lower basic salaries in favour of a greater balance between guaranteed income and performance-related reward.
Tony Denton, group managing director at Batchelors Motor Group, said: “The motor trade has relied on outdated pay structures for too long.
“We want to attract and retain the very best people, and that starts with offering a package that reflects their value.”The £32,000 basic salary gives our team genuine financial security, while still allowing high performers to earn exceptional levels of income.”
Denton said investing in people would remain central to the group’s strategy as Batchelors continues to expand across Yorkshire and grow its representation of Omoda and Jaecoo.
The remuneration package also includes a company car, holiday commission, birthday leave, 22 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, increased holiday entitlement with length of service, manufacturer training and progression opportunities into senior sales, business manager, transaction manager and sales management positions.
