Cambria Automobiles has acquired Bentley and McLaren New Forest from Harwoods, adding two luxury franchises to its retail portfolio.

The transaction, completed for an undisclosed sum, will see the Bentley and McLaren operations in the New Forest join Cambria’s Grange Motors luxury retail division.

All 25 employees will transfer to Cambria as part of the deal and no job losses are planned.

The acquisition expands Cambria’s presence in the South of England luxury vehicle market and adds Bentley and McLaren to a portfolio that already includes Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, Alpine and Corvette.

Cambria Automobiles is the retail arm of Cambria Investments Holdings and operates through its Grange Motors and Invicta Motors businesses. The group represents a mix of premium, luxury, mainstream and emerging automotive brands across the UK.

The acquisition is the latest step in Cambria’s strategy to increase its scale in the premium and luxury automotive sector through acquisitions that complement its existing brand portfolio and geographic coverage.

Tim Duckers, group managing director at Cambria Automobiles (pictured), said: “The acquisition represents another important step in our strategy to strengthen and expand our luxury retail operations through carefully selected opportunities that align with our values, culture and long-term ambitions.

“Bentley and McLaren are two of the world’s most respected luxury and performance brands.

“The New Forest team has built an excellent reputation for customer service and brand representation, and we look forward to building on that success.”

Duckers said Cambria continues to see “attractive opportunities within the luxury automotive sector” and remains focused on opportunities that complement the group’s existing footprint.

For Harwoods, the transaction forms part of its wider strategic plans.

Archie Harwood, chief executive of Harwoods, said: “We are proud of our association with Bentley and McLaren in Hampshire, and after careful consideration, we believe Cambria is now the right long-term partner for the brands.

“The business, its colleagues and customers will benefit from joining a group with significant experience in premium and luxury automotive retail.

“We thank the team for their service to Harwoods, and we wish them every success for the future.”

The acquisition follows continued investment by Cambria in its premium and luxury operations since the business became privately owned in 2021 and signals its intention to pursue further acquisition opportunities within the sector.
