The Arboricultural Association has launched a new fundraising campaign to address tree inequality across the UK, where some communities have up to five times fewer trees than others.

As part of the Big Give Earth Raise initiative, the organisation aims to raise £5,000 in one week, with all donations matched to double their impact.

The campaign will support efforts to improve access to trees and green spaces in underserved areas.

Funds raised will go towards training volunteers, supporting local communities and developing national guidance to improve tree planting and care. The initiative also aims to expand the reach of Arb Ambassadors, a network of volunteer arborists working to promote tree care and awareness.

The campaign highlights the importance of preparation, aftercare and resources to ensure trees are successfully established.

It also seeks to address environmental disparities by improving access to the benefits trees provide, including healthier and more inclusive neighbourhoods.

Donations will fund practical support, with £10 contributing to free guidance materials and £25 supporting resources for volunteers working in communities.

Dr Emma Gilmartin, Senior Technical Officer at the Arboricultural Association, said: “This year, we aim to raise £5,000 through the Big Give Earth Raise, our first ever fundraising campaign – every online donation we receive will make double the difference for our Green Equity project.

We hope everyone will join us in supporting this important work – together, we can make a real impact.”
