Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has revealed Project Nightingale, an all-electric hand-crafted open-top concept that marks the start of its new Coachbuild Collection programme, with just 100 examples planned globally.
The two-seat convertible, developed at Goodwood, will feature coachbuilding design with a fully electric drivetrain, with customer deliveries expected from 2028.

Project Nightingale draws inspiration from the marque’s experimental ‘EX’ models of the 1920s, combining heritage design cues with modern electric performance and open-air luxury.
The model is built on Rolls-Royce’s aluminium Architecture of Luxury platform and is being positioned as a production concept, with global testing and validation set to begin this summer.
Only 100 cars will be offered worldwide, with access restricted to selected clients through invitation as part of a multi-year commissioning programme. VIDEO
Chris Brownridge, chief executive at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said: “Some of the most discerning Rolls-Royce clients in the world asked us for our most ambitious work. We responded by bringing three things together that have never coexisted within our brand: the complete design freedom of coachbuilding, our powerful, near-silent all-electric powertrain and a uniquely potent yet serene expression of open-top motoring – an experience that only this technology makes possible.
“Achieving this required the same audacious mindset that drove our co-founder, Sir Henry Royce, to create his radically different experimental ‘EX’ motor cars of the 1920s. Project Nightingale shares the spirit of those landmark projects and is the most extravagant expression of what Rolls-Royce is capable of today.”
Design inspired by Art Deco era
The 5.76-metre-long model features a streamlined, monolithic design influenced by Streamline Moderne principles, with a long bonnet, low cabin and tapering rear deck creating a distinctive silhouette.
Design elements include a wide Pantheon grille, slender vertical lighting and a continuous central fuselage line running the length of the car, alongside 24-inch wheels.
Inside, the two-seat cabin features a lighting installation of more than 10,500 individual light points while the fully electric drivetrain enables near-silent operation and removes the need for traditional cooling and exhaust systems.
