Motorpoint has announced plans to open a new store in Leeds, strengthening its presence in West Yorkshire and taking its UK retail network to 22 locations.
The new site, located on Whitehall Road near Elland Road and around a mile from the city centre, is set to open this summer following a £15 million investment, with redevelopment already underway.
Once operational, Motorpoint Leeds will offer hundreds of nearly new and used vehicles from more than 30 manufacturers, all available for same day driveaway.
Leeds boosts regional footprint
The retailer said the new site will double its presence in West Yorkshire, complementing its existing Castleford store and expanding customer access across the region.
Motorpoint Leeds will also create 40 new jobs, with recruitment already underway across managerial, sales and vehicle preparation roles.
Mark Carpenter, group chief executive of Motorpoint, said: “We’re excited to announce that we’re opening our 22nd store, just a stone’s throw away from Leeds city centre.
“As the car buyer’s champion, we know how important choice, value and quality are for West Yorkshire motorists when shopping for their next car.
“Once open, Motorpoint Leeds will double our presence in West Yorkshire and give car buyers the opportunity to browse and test drive more than 1,000 vehicles across both our new Leeds store and our existing Castleford store, as well as thousands more cars through our national stock.”
Investment follows profit growth
The expansion follows a strong trading period for the business, which reported an 80% increase in pre tax profit in its interim results published in November.
Motorpoint operates a multichannel retail model, allowing customers to purchase vehicles online, in store or over the phone across its network in England, Scotland and Wales.
