Used car supermarket Cartime has appointed Maciej Zydek as head of vehicle preparation as it scales its operational capability to support continued growth.

The North West-based retailer said the appointment is a key step in strengthening its infrastructure as vehicle volumes increase and expansion plans accelerate.

Operational leadership to drive scale

Zydek joins Cartime with senior operational leadership experience and will take responsibility for developing higher volumes of vehicle preparation while maintaining quality and efficiency.

His remit includes introducing lean operating practices, improving the use of data and systems, and building high-performing teams within the company’s 70,000 sq ft preparation facility.

A major focus will be the rollout of enhanced IT systems, workflow management and automation to improve visibility and consistency across the preparation process.

Zydek will also work closely with suppliers and contractors to ensure standards and performance remain aligned with internal operations.

He said: “I’m delighted to be joining cartime at such an important stage in its growth. The business has clear ambitions and a genuine willingness to invest in doing things the right way.

“My focus will be on building a modern vehicle preparation operation that supports our teams, delivers consistent quality and ultimately improves the experience for every customer.”

Expansion strategy gathers pace

Cartime operates three retail sites across the North West, employs more than 120 staff and stocks over 1,000 used vehicles.

The business is preparing to open a dedicated service centre in the fourth quarter of 2026 and is also planning an additional retail site as part of its wider growth strategy.

Matt Kay, founder and chief executive officer at Cartime, said: “Maciej’s appointment is a significant step forward for our business. His experience, leadership style and focus on continuous improvement make him a great fit. As we expand, it’s essential that our vehicle preparation standards and processes evolve with us, and Maciej will play a key role in shaping that.”
