Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a heavily refreshed version of its flagship S-Class, which is due to go on sale later this year.
The updated model features more than 2,700 new components, accounting for over 50% of the car. New features include heated seatbelts, an illuminated three-pointed star and a revised active suspension system.
The powertrain line-up broadly mirrors the outgoing model, although all engines have been updated.
UK buyers will be offered two diesel variants, the S 350d and S 450d, alongside petrol S 450 and S 500 models, plus the S 580e plug-in hybrid. All variants use six-cylinder engines paired with 4Matic all-wheel drive.

Mercedes-Benz said a series of technical changes have been applied to improve efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions. The S 580e has also received a small power increase and now offers a zero-emission range of up to 62 miles.
A new petrol V8 powered S 580 was also shown at the reveal, although this version is not expected to be offered in the UK.
All S-Class models are now equipped with 4.5-degree rear-wheel steering as standard to improve manoeuvrability. An optional system offering up to 10 degrees of rear steering reduces the turning circle to less than 11 metres.
The updated suspension includes E-Active Body Control, which builds on the existing air suspension by using road data gathered from other vehicles to make real-time adjustments based on road conditions.
Interior updates include a new air filtration system that refreshes cabin air every 90 seconds, revised massage programmes for the seats and the introduction of heated seatbelts.
The infotainment system has been updated with the latest Mercedes software, featuring Google Maps navigation and an enhanced AI-powered voice assistant. A new MBUX Superscreen combines the 14.4-inch central display and 12.3-inch passenger display beneath a single glass surface.
UK specifications and pricing have yet to be confirmed. The updated S-Class is already in production and is expected to reach UK showrooms in the summer.
