Geely Auto UK’s second model, the Starray EM-i Super Hybrid PHEV SUV, will be priced from £29,990 when it launches next month.

The new model expands Geely’s model line-up beyond the launch model of the EX5 as the Chinese brand continues to build out its UK dealer network. Another new model is expected to join the line-up later this year.

The Starray has been engineered from the outset as a PHEV and will be offered with two Lithium Iron Phosphate battery options.

Customers will be able to choose between an 18.4kWh battery offering up to 51 miles of electric-only range or a larger 29.8kWh pack delivering up to 84 miles on the WLTP cycle.

Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions start from 2.4L/100km and 54g/km for the smaller battery and 1.4L/100km and 32g/km for the larger option.

Both variants use a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with an electric motor and a dedicated hybrid transmission, delivering a combined output of 193kW and 262Nm. This enables a 0–62mph time of 8.0 seconds, with drive sent to the front wheels.

Fast-charging capability is included, with the 18.4kWh version supporting 30kW DC charging and the 29.8kWh battery capable of up to 60kW DC.

Geely said a 30–80% charge can take as little as 20 minutes for the smaller battery and 16 minutes for the larger pack.

Using a 7kW AC wallbox, a 25–100% charge can be completed in around three hours or 4.6 hours, respectively.

Michael Yang, general manager of Geely Auto UK, said: “When we launched our brand in the UK we said that we would deliver technologically focused, smart and attainable New Energy Vehicle mobility, while at the same time striving to offer excellent customer service.

“We’re doing exactly that, and after making our debut with an electric SUV and more than doubling our number of dealerships, we are now confidently building on that success by introducing a state-of-the-art super hybrid – the Starray EM-i.”

Yang said the Starray will cater for customers looking for the benefits of electric driving but might not yet be ready for an EV.

Geely has confirmed the new Starray EM-i will come with an eight-year or 125,000 miles warranty for both the vehicle and the battery.

The brand also confirmed the Starray EM-i has been assessed and tuned for UK roads with support from the Lotus engineering team, using road testing, track work and multi-post rig evaluation.

Geely launched in late October 2025 with 25 sites open and expected to finish the year with 50 partners in place.

Dealer groups like Glyn Hopkin, Greenhous and Hendy were some of the first to sign up with the new franchise.

Geely is one of China’s biggest car manufacturers and owns Lynk & Co, Zeekr, as well as subsidiaries and joint ventures with Volvo Cars,  Polestar, Proton, Smart and Lotus, as well as commercial vehicles under the London EV Company (LEVC), Radar Auto / Riddara and Farizon brands.
