Ferrari has tapped Shell for a decade of clean power in a deal that will cover almost half of the energy demand at its iconic Maranello factory.

Shell will deliver 650GWh of renewable electricity through a long-term power purchase agreement running until the end of 2034.

The supply comes from a new Shell-developed plant and is designed to lock in low carbon power at predictable prices as Italian industry races to decarbonise.

Shell Energy Italia will go further by providing extra power and renewable energy certificates to meet all of Ferrari’s electricity use across Italy.

The move is expected to drive a major cut in Ferrari’s Scope 1 and 2 emissions as the brand pushes for a 90% reduction by 2030.

London-listed Shell already partners with Scuderia Ferrari on the track and now it will help clean up production off it.

Ferrari says the deal is a key step in cutting the carbon footprint of the world’s most famous performance cars.
