Ørsted has launched the UK Digital Innovation Challenge in partnership with Digital Catapult and the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult to accelerate the digitalisation of offshore wind operations and maintenance (O&M).
As the UK expands offshore wind to meet net zero targets, smarter solutions are needed to replace manual, weather-dependent O&M practices.
The challenge calls on innovators across sectors such as fintech, healthcare, telecoms and defence to adapt digital technologies that can improve reliability, efficiency and safety while reducing emissions.
Eligible companies must be UK-registered and offer solutions between Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 3 to 7.
Areas of interest include predictive maintenance, digital twins, automated inspections, logistics optimisation, augmented and virtual reality for workforce training, and digital supply chain tools.
Two winners will each receive support worth £50,000, including technical validation, real-world data testing and commercialisation guidance, with the potential to pilot technologies across Ørsted’s global portfolio.
“We’re excited to launch this challenge as part of our mission to harness innovation in driving offshore wind excellence,” said Alex Louden, Head of UK&IE Innovation Hub at Ørsted.
Applications close on 3 October 2025, with winners announced in early 2026.
