Donald Trump has verbally chopped down the wind sector in Europe.

Speaking at a press conference at his Turnberry golf course, where he announced his 15% EU tariff deal, the President took time out to make his views on wind turbines very clear.

“The other thing I say to Europe is we will not allow a windmill to be built in the United States. They’re killing us, they’re killing the beauty of our scenery, our valleys our beautiful plains. The beautiful areas in the United States and you look up then you see windmills all over the place and it’s a horrible thing.

“It’s the most expensive form of energy, it’s no good. They’re made in China, almost all of them.

“When the start to rust and rot in eight years, you can’t really turn them off you can’t bury them, they won’t let you bury the propellors, the props, because they’re a certain type of fibre that doesn’t go well with the land, that’s what they say.

“In other words if you bury them it will harm our soil. The whole thing is a con job.”

Simon Francis, coordinator of the End Fuel Poverty Coalition has said the President’s comments were pure fantasy.

“Donald Trump is spouting fossil fuel fantasy over fact. Wind power can be one of the cheapest and cleanest sources of energy available — and it’s already powering millions of homes while creating thousands of jobs across Scotland and the UK.

“No amount of bluster changes the reality that fossil fuels are expensive, volatile and in decline. Attacking wind energy while ignoring the climate crisis, spiralling energy bills and the economic risks of fossil fuel dependency is not just misleading — it’s dangerous.”
