Electrical distribution transformer and technology products manufacturer Howard Industries is expanding operations across its Mississippi facilities in Clarke, Jones and Simpson counties. The project is a $236.95 million investment and seeks to create a total of 450 jobs.
Howard Industries’ expansions will enable the company to meet U.S. Dept. of Energy’s new requirements for electrical transformers while addressing the growing demand for power from sectors such as data centers, electric vehicles, transportation and industry.
Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive, or MFLEX, program. MDA also is providing assistance for land acquisition, infrastructure improvements and construction costs. The Clarke County Board of Supervisors, Simpson County Board of Supervisors and Jones County Board of Supervisors are assisting with the project, as well.
Howard Industries is a privately held, family-owned Mississippi business established in 1968. The company is a global leader in distribution transformers with more than 14 locations throughout Mississippi that employ more than 4,000 workers. The company has produced over 10 million transformers that are in service throughout the U.S. and abroad.
Howard Industries plans to complete the project and fill the new jobs within five years.
Howard Industries Chief Executive Officer Michael Howard, said, “At Howard Industries, we are deeply committed to the growth and success of Mississippi.
