Polestar is introducing battery state of health certificates for used Polestar 2 models to increase transparency for customers and the wider industry.

The certificates show the usable battery as a percentage and sales teams will present this to each used car customer and talk it through with them.

Polestar said the certificates give customers peace of mind that their battery is in peak health and reassurance that “many more miles of hassle-free motoring is ahead of them”.

The EV brand is running a national pre-owned event until April 30, which includes a complimentary Zaptec home charger for all models.

The Polestar 2 is the brand’s most established model in its line-up and has the greatest number of used examples available since it went on sale in 2020.

It’s likely the newer 3 and 4 models in its model line-up will also get certificates as more used volumes enter the market in the future.

Matt Galvin, managing director Polestar UK, said: “As more pre-owned Polestars start to come on the market, it offers a lower price entry-point to join the Polestar family and experience our performance EVs with all the software features of our new cars.

“And where customers may have been apprehensive about a five-year-old Polestar 2 and its battery condition, once again Polestar is giving car buyers transparency and providing peace of mind in the same way we do with our climate impact.”

Every pre-owned Polestar features a 112-point check, a 24-month warranty, and the remainder of the eight-year battery warranty offered.
