RAC offers free AI imaging tool to approved dealers

The RAC is rolling out free access to state-of-the-art AI imaging technology for its network of approved dealers, as part of an expanded partnership with tech firm Vehicles in Video (VIV).

The newly launched VIV Media app enables dealers to capture high-quality images of their vehicles, overlay them with RAC Approved Dealer branding, and choose from three professionally designed backdrops.

Powered by artificial intelligence, the app automatically identifies the vehicle and applies the selected backdrop across all angles. The enhanced images, along with vehicle details, are uploaded to the dealer’s website in under ten minutes.

Dealers can also upgrade their experience by purchasing extra backdrop options, adding their own logos, or commissioning bespoke designs tailored to their brand.

Lee Coomber, RAC client director at Assurant, the RAC’s partner in warranty and aftersales services, said the move builds on a relationship first established in 2023 when it embarked on a series of third-party deals designed to offer products and services in support of its 1,400 RAC Dealer Network used car, van, motorcycle and motorhome retailers.

“We’ve always taken a view that we are not just a warranty and aftersales product provider to each of our dealers, but that we are here to help them grow and prosper as a business. These arrangements extended that thinking and Vehicles in Video were the very first of them to be signed.

“The new VIV Media app enhances that deal. It is very impressive in terms of enabling dealers to quickly and easily create high quality images of stock for their website, emphasising the advantages to consumers of working with an RAC Approved Dealer, and automatically identifying the vehicle. We’re very pleased to be able to offer it to our network and believe that uptake will be rapid.”

VIV CEO Matt Maley added: “The RAC Dealer Network is well known for its dynamic presence in the warranty and aftersales space.
