Manheim Auction Services celebrated the highly successful launch of its new Gloucester specialist auction site in October 2024, setting new records in the process.
The inaugural sale event saw an impressive 5,270 accepted bids, the most ever received at a commercial Manheim auction, totalling £4.2 million in assets sold on the day.
The Gloucester site, part of a seven-figure investment, was designed to meet the growing demand from Manheim’s van and truck customer base. The business said the facility is now the largest in-lane physical auction space in the UK dedicated to commercial vehicles, including vans, trucks, and plant assets.
Matthew Davock, director of commercial vehicles at Manheim, said: “Our goal was to create an energetic atmosphere and offer customers the chance to engage with a diverse range of vehicles. The first event exceeded our expectations, with positive feedback from both buyers and consigners.”
The sale saw a strong 83.6% of units selling on their first auction, with some consigners achieving 100% conversion rates. On top of that, sold prices averaged 107.2% of the reserve.
The event attracted over 160 in-person buyers, with a strong mix of competition between hall buyers and online participants. In the van lane, 54% of sales were claimed by hall bidders, while the truck and plant lane saw 74% of assets sold to online buyers.
