Dacia has revealed its new Bigster SUV that will go on sale next year as part of the brand’s wider plans to expand its model range with two additional models.

The introduction of the Bigster, which is expected to rival models like the Nissan Qashqai and the Kia Sportage, will be priced to deliver “the best value for money in the segment”. Pricing is yet to be confrmed.

Based on the 2021 Bigster Concept, the new car has a bold, rugged appearance.

The boxy design benefits practicality, with Dacia claiming the Bigster to be “one of the most spacious” vehicles in its segment. It has a 40:20:40 split folding rear seat and a 667-litre boot.

Standard features include keyless entry, dual zone climate control, rear view camera, parking sensors and a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen.

Three powertrain options will be available. The flagship model will use a 155PS hybrid engine based on Dacia’s existing hybrid powertrain. In the Bigster it develops more power and is also said to be 6% more efficient.

There will also be a 140PS mild-hybrid petrol and a 130PS petrol unit with all-wheel-drive.
