Most homeowners want faster action on the energy crisis and practical help to adopt clean technologies, according to a new iChoosr survey of more than 1,000 energy-conscious consumers.

Two thirds are not confident the UK will meet its 2050 net zero target (69%) and a clear majority believe government should do more to spur individual action, with 86% calling for stronger incentives to install home renewables.

At local level, 33% are dissatisfied with council action, citing a need for better public awareness, easier access to renewables, investment in community projects and targeted financial support.

Rising bills are biting hard.

Sixty-eight percent say higher energy costs have caused anxiety or stress at home and 56% worry about how much energy they use.

Trust is low, with only 16% trusting their energy supplier to offer fair pricing and invest in clean energy – and also just 16% trusting Ofgem’s price cap to protect consumers, despite plans for all major suppliers to offer at least one low standing charge tariff by January 2026.

Appetite for solutions is growing.

The majority see renewables as reliable as traditional energy, with solar panels, heat pumps and solar water heating topping the list of options.

Forty-two percent are interested in integrating renewables at home and 32% say they are likely to switch to solar within five years.

Among respondents who already have solar (63%), 91% report lower energy costs.

Their top motivations are cost savings (30%), environmental benefits (30%), future-proofing (16%) and energy independence (12%).

iChoosr partners with local authorities to scale adoption of solar, battery storage, EV chargers and heat pumps through group-buying schemes.
