Ed Miliband, the newly appointed Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero has set out his agenda for tackling the pressing issues of energy security and climate change on his first day in office.
Meeting with civil servants, Mr Miliband outlined a comprehensive strategy to stabilise energy costs and advance the UK’s environmental commitments.
Amidst concerns over rising energy prices and the impact on households and businesses, the Energy Secretary emphasised the need for decisive action.
Ed Miliband said: “Families and businesses have paid the price of our country’s energy insecurity in the cost of living crisis.
“This government will deliver a bold plan for energy and climate action, investing in clean homegrown power as the route to energy independence, lower energy bills, good jobs, tackling the climate crisis and making us climate leaders once again.
“I will ensure we take immediate action to deliver our long term plan the work starts today.”
